My clients are those who

- want to be at peace with food and eating
- want to enjoy food without guilt and shame
- want to get off the yo yo dieting merry go round
- want to stop harmful eating patterns such as overeating, binge eating / restricting
- are recovering from eating disorders, who are wanting to avoid relapse.
- Want to help their children make lifestyle changes that lead to a healthy, positive future
Treatment programs involve weekly, 1 hour sessions over an 8 week period initially. Cognitive and behavioural methods are used to achieve client goals. These include psycho-education, self-monitoring, exposure, mindfulness skills, modifying self-defeating cognitions, problem solving, goal setting, and relapse prevention. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) has become a popular form of psychological therapy for people experiencing eating disorders and weight related difficulties. CBT encourages people to re-examine and challenge existing thought and behaviour patterns, and by doing so can allow healthier behaviours to emerge.
