How many sessions can be claimed?
Up to 12 sessions with a psychologist can be claimed in a twelve month period.
Am I eligible?
Eligibility is based on the diagnosis given to you by your GP. The most common disorders include eating disorders, anxiety and depression.
How do I access the Medicare Rebates?
Rebated sessions can be accessed in three steps:
- Visit your GP and discuss your concerns.
- If your GP believes you are eligible and would benefit from seeing a psychologist they will complete a GP Mental Health Care Plan and can make a referral to Dr Taryn Bloom.
- Progress will be reviewed with your GP after your first six sessions. After this you can then claim your additional six sessions.
You can confirm with Medicare Australia whether a Mental Health Care Plan (Form 2710) has been lodged by your GP and on what date, by phoning 132 011.
